Small Stone – The End…

Another poem… strangely enough.

She came
on Saturday, the End of the week,
to end our affair.
I sat and listened, dumfounded into
silence, confounded into compliance.
I held back the tears I wanted to shed
I held back words I wanted to speak
the right was not mine
to make demands
of her.
We two severed into separate ways.
We parted as a path in a wood.
I would never see her again.
I would never touch her, or
feel her presence next to me.
She was gone.
Our affair ended on that
end of the week.

Interesting imagery with the phrase “We parted as a path in a wood”
