I kiss you with all my heart

I kiss you with all my heart

and miss you when we’re apart.

I feel your touch upon my flesh

and hear your voice again, afresh.

You’re warmth against the cold.

Your smile illuminates me when the old

darkness surrounds. You wash away

the pain and monotony of my day.

I feel your palm so welcome and sublime

while your fingers curl and circle mine.

But I own fear beyond any words I can say

and loath an unknown moment, an unseen day.

What have I done, what crime, what sin

to fear in the presence of someone I believe in.

Am I judged and condemned to serve life

and daily draw across my flesh a knife?

I know some fateful day will see you leave

me to my desolate self, to wander and grieve.
